Job description

The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) is seeking to hire an Associate Scientist to collaborate on analyses of wildfire and climate at regional to continental scales, utilizing the newly released North American Tree-Ring Fire-Scar Network (NAFSN). The finalist will work with a collaborative group funded by the USGS Powell Center for Analysis and Synthesis. The goal of the project is to combine historical (tree-ring) and modern (satellite) records of fire and climate to gain unique insights into the dynamics of multi-century fire-climate relationships and their implications for future fire risk across North America. Ideal applicants will have extensive experience working in the R programming language conducting a variety of advanced tasks, such as data wrangling, functional programming, modeling, geospatial analyses, and graphics.
