Job Description: Performs air quality and meteorological forecasting, data validation, and data analysis, for the Data Management Section of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Monitoring Division. Prepares and disseminates weather, agricultural burn, air quality planning, and air pollution forecasts, including participating in seasonal weekend forecast rotation. Assists in the evaluation of forecasting models and associated software. Validates, analyzes, and reports meteorological and air quality data utilizing agency and EPA data systems. Assists in performing data analysis techniques and procedures for meteorological and air quality data to ensure compliance with data quality objectives and state and federal air monitoring regulations. Assists in providing data summaries and/or air quality data and related information for agency staff and/or external customers. Follows and assists in the review and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), and other guidance/procedural documentation. Assists with maintaining and updating meteorology and forecast web pages in coordination with the lead internet developer. Ensures materials posted on agency web sites conform to agency standards, including accessibility standards.

Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Codes: 72D, EA, 1585, 6802, and 6842

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in engineering, a basic or natural science, mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university (COPY OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION).

Preferred Requirements: Experience in air quality forecasting. Experience in meteorological forecasting. Bachelor's Degree or higher with a major in Meteorology or Atmospheric Sciences. Experience in air quality or meteorological data analysis and/or comparison.

Special Requirements: Moving up to 35 pounds of paper/equipment. Traveling up to 5% of the time.

Condition of Employment: TCEQ will verify Selective Service registration for males born on or after January 1, 1960.
