Job description

The Departments of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science and Geology at the University of Maryland (UMD) invite applications for a Research track position at the Postdoctoral Associate level for research on air quality and climate change. Be part of a vibrant, productive team of earth and atmospheric scientists pursuing climate resilience, air quality, and environmental justice. 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in observational and theoretical science in atmospheric chemistry and/or micrometeorology especially measurements of trace gases and aerosols and their flux.  Ability to transform research into policy-relevant science a plus.  Experience with isotope geochemistry, in situ or remote sensing of air pollutants (e.g., CH4 and BC), and chemical transport models desirable. 

Requirements:

Ph.D. in physical science or engineering with experience in field work involving greenhouse gases, short-lived pollutants, micrometeorology, and/or biogeochemical cycles. 

Ability to travel, perform laboratory and field experiments, and communicate effectively with non-scientists. 

Preference given to applications received before March 31, 2024.  Renewable one year appointment.
