Job description

Duties:

We are seeking an early-career Research Associate with expertise in satellite data assimilation. The Research Associate will work on the assimilation of satellite observations especially from microwave instruments into NASA GEOS model.

Qualifications:

A university degree (preferably Ph.D.) in atmospheric remote sensing, computer science, physics, electrical engineering, or other related science/engineering fields is required. Strong programming skills preferably in C++, Fortran, Linux Shell, Python, and familiarity with HPCs are required. Experience working with microwave satellite observations, radiative transfer models, or data assimilation systems is desired. Candidates must be able to work in a group environment and collaborate across disciplinary boundaries.

The position will be located at the Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA. Therefore, the candidate must meet the background investigation requirements by NASA for IT and physical access.
