The duties involve applied research to operations endeavors that include but are not limited to:

  • Processing and evaluating both real-time and reforecast model output of relevant variables, including verification techniques and use of METplus verification software
  • Developing algorithms for post-processing and calibration
  • Operational implementation of promising real-time forecast tools and products

Required Skills

  • Strong insights of climate processes and indices and interest in forecast operations
  • Sound understanding and experience in statistics/significance testing of atmospheric-oceanic phenomena along with skills in developing climatologies and applying spatial/temporal filtering techniques in analyzing observational and dynamical model data.
